Why some LED displays catch fire?

In recent years, we sometimes hear about the fire of some LED displays, especially outdoor displays. Because the outdoor environment is more extreme and changeable than indoors, the safety during use is more noteworthy. I. Wires

For most LED display, the larger rated current for per unit area is, the higher its demand for wire stable is. Among many wire products, the wires that meet the requirements of the international standard can ensure their safety and stability.

Compared with the general copper-clad aluminum core and wire, wires with a small core cross-sectional area and insufficient insulation rubber covering, there are also three requirements from the international standard: 

1. The core must be a copper wire conductive carrier;

2. The tolerance of the core on cross-sectional area must be within the standard range;3. Insulation and flame retardant of the rubber covering the core must meet the standard.


II. Power supply

Compared to conventional power supplies, CE or UL-certified power products with PFC function is a good choice because of its higher effective conversion rate, that would ensure the power supply even screen more safety and stability in a hot environment. Adding a aluminum plate to the back of power supply is also better for heat dissipation.


III. PC base shall

The PC base shall means the suit for modules, its main raw materials is PC glass fiber with flame retardant function. It not only has the flame retardant function, but also not easy to become deform or brittle and crack under high and low temperature and long-term use. It can be used with glue which with good sealing performance to effectively prevent the rainwater from penetrating into the interior, in case of short circuit and catch fire. 


IV. PCB layers

The PCB design is also a very important point, for the same pixel pitch, the more layers of PCB, the more stable the working performance is and better heat dissipation it has.


V. Cabinet

The cabinet materials must be strong enough especially for large screens, the thicker the thickness of cabinet is, the better the intensity is. When the cabinet is strong, it will not easy to be deformed, the rain will not easy to seep into the inside of cabinet, so avoid a fire.


Moreover, the driving IC, capacitance and resistance, and some other connectors that having flammable properties, also should choose good quality materials to reduce the failure rate and control the misfire probability. 


Technically, the LED display must be installed, instructed, and inspected by professionals during the installation process, for example, in the follow-up maintenance work, the operator must follow the process flow strictly, to avoid improper operation, for example the module screw is not tightened, the wire polarity is reversed, the conductive object is left after the operation, etc., also should remember to clean the surrounding flammable and combustible materials.
