What is SMD (Surface-Mounted Device)?

SMD LEDs are a type of LED technology where the LED chips are mounted directly onto a printed circuit board (PCB). The design of an SMD LED typically consists of three primary components: the LED chip, a phosphor coating, and a small reflective cavity.

SMD is currently the mainstream products, mainly used in outdoor LED display and indoor LED display with pitch 2 and above.

Disadvantages

What is GOB (Glue on Board)？

It is actually common SMD type LED modules with fully glued on the module surface. 

This process does not use common masks, but directly glue on the LED module surface. 

All the LED lamp are fully wrapped with glue, even the LED legs, solder points. 

By the process, common modules can be well protected. anti-collision, anti-humidity. 

but there are problems of stress relief, heat dissipation, repair and poor colloidal adhesion.

The repair needs to dig the glue out first and then change or repair the LED and glue it back.

What is COB (Chip-on-Board)？

COB LED display refers to an LED display that utilizes COB (Chip-on-Board) technology for its construction. In a COB LED display, the individual LED chips are directly mounted onto a circuit board without individual packaging, forming a densely packed array of LED chips.

COB technology offers advantages such as better heat dissipation, higher brightness, and improved reliability. COB screens are known for their seamless and uniform display, making them suitable for large-scale LED walls and video displays.

COB package products do not need to consider How to repair the broken lamp? because its pixels are invalid. The rate index is much higher than the industry standard, can be subconsciously erased from the customer's subconscious LED display industry, the bad influence of more dead lamps.
